Designed for all Louisiana schools, “Keep Your Eye on the Prize” encourages students to team up and join the Home Team by developing creative ideas focused on coastal sustainability and depicting why America’s WETLAND is critical to the future of Louisiana. Students will express their ideas of the importance of coastal restoration to their own lives through the creation of artworks, taking photographs, writing essays or poetry and constructing science projects.
“As we talk about sustaining Louisiana’s coast for future generations, it is so important that our young people are educated about the value of our coastal assets and innovative ways we can adapt for the future,” King Milling, chairman of the America’s WETLAND Foundation, said. “We have seen students become increasingly engaged as advocates for conservation and coastal stewardship, and we look forward to showcasing some of their creative ideas and providing them an opportunity to take the next step in saving America’s WETLAND.”
For the “Keep Your Eye on the Prize” contest, three winners will be selected from each of the following categories: grades 4-6, grades 7-9, and 0grades 10-12. The winners will be awarded a $1,000 prize for his or her class to pursue a restoration project and will be hosted by the Saints for a special tour of the team’s practice facility in Metairie, La.
